Whether you're pairing your Stages Power meter for the first time or switching head units, here is a quick start guide to getting your power meter set up with some of the most common cycling computers that are compatible with your Stages Power Meter. A more detailed list of recommended settings and practices is available for several of the most popular Garmin head units and can be accessed in our section: Recommended set up for the Stages Power meter and 3rd party head units


Please see your head unit's user manual for instructions for devices not listed here. 


Note: If you're pairing for the first time, please make sure you've first removed the cover and yellow battery isolation strip in order to re-install the battery to power on the device for the first time.

Settings > Bike Settings > Bike 1 (or applicable bike profile) > ANT+ Power > Power meter present? > Yes

We recommend bypassing the "Search" function by entering in the power meter's ID directly. From here, select "Sensor Details" and enter in the ANT+ ID from the crank arm.
The ANT+ ID can be found on the silver sticker on the crank arm below the power meter pod. It is also listed on the card that comes in the box with the power meter. 


Under "Sensor Details", enter in the 4-5 digit ANT+ ID from your crank. Note: For the 910xt, hold down the scroll button to adjust the number. The longer you hold it, it will switch from scrolling 1s, 10s, then 100s

For Edge 500, If you have a 4-digit ANT+ ID, please enter 0 for the first digit. After you've entered in all the digits, select "Done" from the number selection.

This should bring you back to the previous page. From here, there's no need to press search. Simply rotate the crank to  activate the power meter and when it is first detected by the head unit, it should display "Power Sensor Found" on the screen.

If you are on the most recent Garmin firmware, it may also pop up and ask you to calibrate. Before you calibrate, please first rotate your left crank into the 6 o'clock position and make sure you are off the bike. Once you're ready, select "Yes" and it should bring back a calibration value to set the zero offset for your power meter. If it does not pop up, you can select "Calibrate" at any time from the Settings > Bike Settings > Bike 1 > ANT+ Power > then select "Calibration". This will always be an option once the power meter is connected and paired with the head unit.

Settings (Tools Icon) > Bike Profiles > Bike 1 (or applicable bike profile) > Power (Barbell Icon) > Power Meter Enabled Toggle

Once you are connected, you can now calibrate the power meter. From the  home screen, select the "Tools" Icon > Bike Profiles > Bike 1 (or applicable profile) > Power icon >  Calibrate. The left crank must be in the 6 o'clock position with no  weight on the pedal to proceed. Once you're ready, follow the prompt to  calibrate and it should successfully return a 3 digit number.

From the home screen, select the "Tools" icon > Sensors > Add Sensor > Power > A list of sensors will populate > Select Sensors to Add (confirm ANT+ ID matches power meter)

Calibration/Zero Reset: 

Once you are connected, you can now calibrate the power meter. From the home screen, select the "Tools" Icon > Sensors > Power > Calibrate. The left crank must be in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the pedal to proceed. Once you're ready, follow the prompt to calibrate and it should successfully return a 3 digit number.

From the home screen, use the down arrow to select > Settings > Sensors > Add Sensor > Power > A list of sensors will populate > Select Sensors to Add (confirm ANT+ ID matches power meter)

Rotate the crank arm to ensure the power sensor is active during the pairing process. For best results, hold the head unit in close proximity to the power sensor while performing the initial pairing.

This sensor will be saved into the sensors and accessories section as . Always confirm when it connects that it has connected to the power sensor that you are about to ride. If two sensors are active, you will be prompted to choose which sensor to use and it is important that you select the correct power sensor in order to view and record your power data. 

 

Calibration/Zero Reset:

To calibrate, go to Menu > Settings > Sensors > ANT+ ID of your power sensor > Calibrate > Confirm the crank is in the 6 o'clock position, then select Calibrate again

To calibrate the Stages Power meter, place the crank in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the crank. While on the power measurement screen, press and hold the MENU button for 4 second > CALIB will flash on the screen > After 3 seconds, it will return to the measurement screen. This model does not return a failure if calibration is unsuccessful. We recommend using the StagesPower app to zero reset when possible, in order to receive confirmation and a zero reset value with each calibration.

Press the menu button (back of head unit) > Press MODE to scroll through options until you reach ID SYNC > Select ID Sync by holding mode > Scroll to and select PW by holding MODE > Select PW1 or PW2 depending on which bike is being paired with the power meter > Hold  down MODE to begin search > Press MODE again within 3 seconds >  Enter in ANT+ ID

To calibrate the Stages Power meter, place the crank in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the crank. While on the power measurement screen, press and hold the MENU button for 4 second > CALIB will flash on the screen > After 3 seconds, it will return to the measurement screen. This model does not return a failure, so you will not receive a crank position error if the crank is not positioned correctly and calibration is not possible. We recommend using the StagesPower app to zero reset when possible, in order to receive confirmation and a zero reset value with each calibration.

Mirror Mode:


Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device > Open Cateye Cycling App > Select Menu from the top left corner > Settings: Device > Device Pairing to initiate search. Once "stages_power_meter" is discovered, select Pairing. When the pairing is complete, the power sensor icon at the top (PW) will be engaged.


Sensor Direct Mode:


From the measurement screen, press MENU until you are on the power measurement screen > Press MODE until the screen says Sync > Activate the power sensor > Press menu to complete the pairing

To calibrate the Stages Power meter, place the crank in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the crank. While on the power measurement screen, press and hold the MENU button for 4 second > CALIB will flash on the screen > After 3 seconds, it will return to the measurement screen.

The Lezyne Power GPS and Super GPS can be paired via Bluetooth or ANT+. 


For Bluetooth:

Select the Bluetooth LE menu > Power > Select Enter to Enable > Connect > Activate the power sensor by rotating the crank and wait for the unit to read "OK Paired"


For ANT+:

Select the ANT+ Menu > Select ANT+ Power > Press Enter to Enable > Activate the power sensor by rotating the crank and wait for the unit to read "Paired"


The power meter's ANT+ ID can also be entered by selecting "Manual ID" from the ANT+ Power menu > Press enter to select and then use the buttons on the right to increase or decrease the ANT+ ID and use ENTER to input the adjustment.

After turning on the power meter, select the bike profile for which you are adding the power meter, then select Settings > Sensors > Power Sensor > Toggle the X to the Check Box > Pair a new sensor > New Sensor Found: Yes > Rename Sensor now? Select Yes or No. It will give you the option to name your sensor which is not required to complete the pairing process.

Note: The Stages Power meter is only capable of pairing to one Bluetooth 4.0 device at a time. The power meter must be disconnected from the Stages Power app or another app on your mobile device before you can pair the Polar device and vice versa.

The Joule GPS and Joule GPS+ allow you to pair sensors based on which bike they are associated with. You can associate a power meter with a specific bike profile by adding it as a sensor using the following key path: 


Press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds to enter the main menu > Sensors > Select Bike 1 (or applicable profile) > Power Sensor > <New Sensor> > Activate Sensor: Start Pairing

After you start pairing, make sure to rotate the crank to activate it. Once it has paired, verify that the Sensor ID listed under the Power Sensor page matched the 4-5 digit ANT+ ID number on the sticker on the back of the crank arm. 


Calibrating or Manual Zero:

Head unit is not capable of calibrating the Stages Power Meter. Please see StagesPower app (Android / iOS info)

Sigma Rox 10.0

Rox 10.0 GPS User manual (English)

From the home page, use the [+] key to scroll to Settings > Bike 1-3 & Totals > Select Bike 1, 2, or 3 (depending on which bike profile is using the power meter) > Scroll down and select ANT+ Pairing > Scroll down to Power Meter > then select Power (will say power 1, 2, or 3 depending on bike profile selected) and it will begin searching for the sensor. Sensor ID will be displayed once power meter is found. Please confirm that the sensor ID displayed matches the ANT+ ID number on the crank arm.
To calibrate, place the crank in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the pedal, then select "Manual Zero Offset". Once completed, the computer will return a zero offset value for the crank.

Hold down Next to enter the Options Menu > Pair > Power POD > It will begin searching once you select Power POD and pair with your power meter. Make sure to activate the power meter by rotating the crnak.

When you select Cycling, it will also search for your sensors and calibration will occur at the time of pairing. Please make sure the  power meter is in the vertical/6 o'clock position. If it fails, check crank position and select Retry
You can also manually request calibration when in Cycling mode, hold down Next to go to options > Calibrate

Note: The Stages Power meter is only capable of pairing to one Bluetooth 4.0 device at a time. The power meter must be disconnected from the Stages Power app or another app on your mobile device before you can pair the Suunto Ambit3 and vice versa.
